Amplifying feminist voices of the 21st century

2017-ongoing, campaigns
WOMEN Inc. is the Dutch feminist platform that, since 2003, has been pushing for political change towards a fairer society. One in which gender, skin colour or sexuality/sexual orientation are never an indicator of where you stand on the social ladder.

Over the past 18 years, KesselsKramer has been making their - often astonishingly succesful - campaigns for societal change and since 4 years, I’ve been involved too.
This page contains an overview of the WOMEN Inc. projects I have worked on.

Assets made: online & offline campaigns

In 2021, parents  in the Netherlands (mothers especially) still struggle to combine work and (child)caregiving. Due to expensive daycare, an extremely complex system of child care allowances, and a lack of paid leave for fathers, many women aren’t economially independent and many dads don’t get to be as much of a dad as they’d like to be.

In a loud, punky campaign we addressed the responsible politicians and offered hands-on policy solutions.

In 2020, Dutch women still received 15% less salary than men.  This didn’t only seem almost impossible to believe; the majority of Dutch CEO’s and HR managers indeed didn’t believe it - and thus also didn’t feel inclined to do something about it.

To make them part of the solution, rather than the problem, we made a social campaign specifically targeted at employers. This campaign emphasizes how bizarre a wage gap really is. Online videos and GIFs show women in work-related settings getting 15% less coffee, 15% less lunch, 15% less working material or even 15% less presentation time. It’s all as ridiculous as receiving 15% less money for the same job.

Update: In 2021, the wage gap had lowered to 14%. To point out the fact that this is still absurd, some assets were updated, to be campaigned with once more.

In 2019 the Netherlands celebrated the 100 year anniversary of women’s suffrage. In honour of this very first century of equal political participation, we created a video for WOMEN Inc. to launch on International Women’s Day, March 8th 2019.

This short video highlights the history of women’s suffrage in the Netherlands, visualised with cakes and explained by Duch television presentor Emma Wortelboer.

In 2019, WOMEN Inc., together with Rutgers and COC, initiated the ‘Alliantie Gezondheidszorg op Maat’. This alliance was brought into existence to make people of all genders and sexual orientations feel comfortable and confident enough to tell their GPs everything they need to know to treat them well.

This was necessary, because still, many non-hetero-, non-cisgender people feel like they can’t.  To stop shame, awkwardness and wrong assumptions get in the way of proper, personal healthcare, we developed a campaign that highlights the fact that, above anything else, everyone sitting in a doctor’s waiting room is human. And thus deserves to be treated like one.
